A Mother & Daughter Design Studio

Rooms with a sense of history, and space to breathe.

Considered color, honest materials, antiques with a story, and pattern used with a light hand.

A paneled colonial room with a green wing chair and a gateleg table draped in an antique carpet

A design studio for interiors that feel inherited rather than bought: limewashed walls and worn oak, faded linen and old brass, one good antique given room to breathe.

Services

Three disciplines, one shared eye

I.

Interiors

Full-service and consultative design for country and town houses: plans and architectural detail, paint and finish schedules, furnishings, lighting, and the antiques and vintage finds that give a room its soul.

II.

Pattern & Textile

Choosing and layering the prints, wallcoverings, and textiles that give a room its character: archival florals and document chintzes, colorways chosen to sit beside historic paints, and the quiet geometry of ticking, gingham, and stripe.

III.

Art Direction

Styling and creative direction for photography, showrooms, and brand environments. Deciding what stays on the table, where the light falls, and, just as often, what is left out.

Rooms We Return To

A reference library of light & proportion

The houses, objects, and quiet moments that shape the way the studio sees.

Print, Pattern & Color

The prints and colors we keep coming back to

A document print found in an archive, a faded quilt, the trellis on a garden wall, and the soft, mineral shades that sit beside them. Pattern used with confidence, and color that changes with the light.

Red toile printed cotton with pastoral scenes
Small-scale daisy wallpaper on a pale ground
Botanical engraving of a white rose
Powdered floral wallpaper with scattered yellow and blue flowers

About Borheir

A mother, a daughter, and a shared eye

Borheir is a mother-and-daughter design studio. For years, the two worked side by side on houses for family and friends: mixing paint, hunting down antiques, hanging pictures, and debating the exact shade of white. Over the past decade that collaboration became a private practice, and it has grown steadily as more clients look closely at the rooms they live in.

The studio pairs two complementary sensibilities. One, Christine Davidson Bohrer, is an accomplished painter and artist working across many mediums, with a painter’s instinct for color, light, and composition. The other, Sylvie Bohrer, is an established designer and creative director with an exceptional eye for print and pattern, and a sure sense of what belongs in a room and what doesn’t.

Together they draw on heritage classics and aspirational vintage: the English country house and the New England farmhouse, the worn Windsor chair and the faded document chintz, rooms that feel as though they have always been there. Borheir works with private clients, architects, builders, and trade partners.
